Float the day..beginning in 2025
Australia Day should be a celebration of the naming of our country by one of our greatest explorers. 2025 is the ideal year to float Australia Day permanently to the last Monday in January for the first time, and to start a new tradition in the spirit of unity for all Australians.

The New Concept for Australia Day
In order to select a new day for the celebration of Australia Day, it would be preferable that the day should highlight some historical event of which the nation can be proud. It should also be a day that unifies all Australians regardless of ancestral origin and it should be in a traditional month in the Australian calendar. The proposal is that Australia Day should be celebrated on a floating day…
the last Monday in January every year.

I am quite persuaded by the notion of the last Monday in January.. this way we all get to make time to reflect on where we have come from.. and where we are going.. Having such an occasion in January.. at the start of the year .. just as we are gearing up to get into the year is perfect I think.. There are many other suggestions around as you will know.. but I have to say I like this one the best..

This is terrific, long overdue and so appropriate. Everybody can establish allegiance to suit whatever cause, but crucially we may all be united under the one banner of Australia Day.
